By digitally processing audio signals, we are able to retain absolute precision, resulting in a sound that is natural, three-dimensional and remarkably easy to listen to.

However, all audio systems have inherent issues or limitations that can detract from the listening experience and reduce the realism of the reproduced sound. Many of these can only be resolved using software solutions and that is where Meridian’s unique technology solutions are implemented, both in our own home audio products, and those of our partners such as Jaguar Land Rover and LG.

Meridian Technologies are generally broken down into four areas;

The first concern is making the most of the digital audio itself. Signal Conditioning ensures that all the accuracy and the detail of the digital audio is maintained.

Meridian Digital Precision for Home Audio maximises the signal-to-noise ratio, ensuring the finest details of every song are retained.

True Time is Meridian's proprietary apodising filter that avoids pre-ringing and cleans up the effects of early filters, converting pre-echo to post-echo.

Meridian True Link is an encryption method for transferring high-definition digital audio over SPDIF connections. It allows secure movement of digital audio whilst ensuring that the SPDIF clock signal can be transmitted with minimum degradation.

Meridian Q-Sync deploys Meridian's multiple “First In, First Out” buffering system which minimises jitter, ensuring perfect timing and improved clarity.

The second area System Optimization utilizes DSP to overcome inherent limitations to the audio system that we wouldn’t be to solve in any other way.

Bespoke Signal Mapping delivers an optimal response from multi-way loudspeakers, ensuring that all drive units complement one another, providing a consistent response at all frequencies.

FFA (Full Frequency Alignment) is a combination of digital filters and delays to correct the group-delay of a loudspeaker. It ensures that all frequencies reach the listeners ear at the same time.

Image Elevation psychoacoustically raises the sound image to the centre of a screen – where the listener would expect to hear it from.

Meridian Resonance Control uses the dimensions of the room in order to compensate for the primary modal resonances that are especially exacerbated by loudspeakers with downward firing speakers.

The third area is known as Performance Management. These technologies monitor the performance of the system in real time in order to ensure it’s working as best as possible.

Meridian Pro-active Bass protects the bass drivers from over-excursion, ensuring maximum bass output without damaging the drive units.

Meridian Pro-active Thermal monitors the audio being sent to the mid-range drivers and tweeters and limits the overall volume of the loudspeaker if there is a risk of the drive units getting too hot.

The final area we call Playback Enhancement these technologies provide the end user with the enhanced listening experience through the application of the DSP novel algorithms. These technologies include Meridian Horizon, E3 Bass, Bass & Space, Image Focus, Image Focus Plus and HSP.

Meridian Horizon is an upmixing technology that provides immersive multichannel audio from two channel stereo content, configured for any loudspeaker layout.

Meridian E3 Bass uses specifically designed filters to expand, extend and enhance the low-frequency response of the loudspeaker.

Meridian Bass & Space is a stereo enhancing technology designed to optimise and increase the sense of soundstage width.

Meridian technologies ensure the listener is getting the best experience no matter what product they’re listing to or where they’re listening to it.

The result is an optimised playback system that delivers an authentic, lifelike and natural listening experience, allowing listeners to enjoy and fall in love with their music and movies wherever they are.
