AN ACOUSTIC TRIUMPH IN THE SURREY COUNTRYSIDE
When Media Max required a home cinema system that would provide a family of movie lovers with an immersive experience like no other, the integrator turned to Meridian for products that provide unparalleled performance.
Media Max started working on this large residential property several years ago, but due to COVID delays and the sheer scale of the job, it was a lengthy install for the team. Located in the Surrey countryside and sitting on fifty acres of land, this family home incorporates the main house and a rebuilt annexe.
The house was renovated prior to the existing owners moving in and, although newly installed, the building’s technology and cabling were far from cutting-edge. Knowing what the client was looking for in the longer term, Media Max made it a priority to get the infrastructure up to contemporary requirements.
Following this work, Media Max turned their attention to specifying new tech for the project. The team has worked with Meridian before and knew that the products would be a good fit. In order for the client to see the products up close, they were invited to visit Meridian HQ in Cambridgeshire to experience demonstrations, to meet the team and to enjoy a factory tour. The client fell in love with the Meridian Audio experience and requested that Media Max equip the whole house with Meridian loudspeakers.
Having installed Meridian speakers throughout the property, including a pair of DSP7200SE loudspeakers in the lounge finished in a custom colour to match the client’s new piano, as well as DSP320.2 in-ceiling speakers and DSP640.2 in-wall loudspeakers in the snug, Media Max started work on the ‘crown jewels’ of this project – its home cinema. This is situated in the newly-built annexe, along with the swimming pool, games room and bar.
The cinema was designed to a reference-level specification, ensuring it met and exceeded the expectations of the family destined to use it. On the audio side, the room is packed to the brim with Meridian speakers. The set-up includes five DSP8000SE loudspeakers for the front main channels and three DSP640.2 in-wall loudspeakers for the front height channels – all hidden behind the projector screen. These are complemented by six DSP640.2 loudspeakers in the ceiling, eight in the side walls, and four in the back wall. Four Meridian DSW600 in-wall subwoofers, a Trinnov Altitude 32 audio processor and two 271 Meridian Digital Theatre Controllers complete the audio package.
To ensure that video performance lived up the standards of the audio, a Barco Prometheus 3 4K DCi Projection System, a 4,700mm x 1,958mm 2.40:1 ratio projection screen and a Lumagen Radiance Pro 5244 were installed.
Eleven fully customised seats – capable of accommodating the taller family members – complete the cinema room. This arrangement allows plenty of space for the all of the family to enjoy regular movie nights together – whether that’s the grandson’s favourite animated musicals, or the latest Marvel blockbuster for the older members of the family.
