Rivian set out to create electric vehicles designed for exploration, capable of performing as confidently on-road as they do off it. For the R1S and R1T, this ambition extended to the in-cabin experience, where sound needed to feel immersive, controlled and consistent across a wide range of driving conditions.

Meridian was engaged to engineer a premium audio system tailored specifically to Rivian’s electric vehicle architecture, delivering clarity, balance and immersion for every occupant.

The Challenge

Electric vehicles present a distinct acoustic environment. Reduced powertrain noise exposes detail in the audio reproduction, but also places greater demands on system tuning, speaker placement and tonal balance.

For Rivian, the challenge was to deliver a refined, high-performance sound experience within a robust, multifunctional interior, without compromising design intent, usability or durability.

 

The Solution

Meridian engineered the Rivian Elevation sound system exclusively for the R1S and R1T platforms. The system combines strategically positioned loudspeakers with a suite of Meridian’s proprietary DSP technologies, tuned specifically for the vehicle cabin and listening positions.

The result is a cohesive and immersive soundstage that preserves the integrity of the original recording, wherever passengers are seated.
