Meridian For HiPhi

Advanced Audio Engineering for Electric Vehicles

Meridian collaborated with Human Horizons to engineer premium in-car audio systems across the HiPhi electric vehicle range, including the HiPhi X, HiPhi Z and HiPhi Y. Each programme applied Meridian’s expertise in digital signal processing and psychoacoustics to deliver immersive, high-fidelity sound experiences tailored to distinct vehicle architectures and customer use cases.

Across the HiPhi portfolio, Meridian’s role was to translate advanced vehicle design and technology into a coherent, engaging and natural listening experience for all occupants.

The Challenge

HiPhi vehicles were defined by advanced electric platforms, futuristic interiors and a strong focus on technology-led luxury. Each model presented a different acoustic challenge, from large, open cabin volumes to demanding expectations around immersive, multi-channel audio.

The task was to deliver consistent tonal balance, spatial accuracy and immersion across all seating positions, while integrating seamlessly into complex vehicle architectures and premium interior designs.

 

The Solution

Meridian engineered bespoke audio systems for each HiPhi model, applying a suite of proprietary DSP technologies and carefully optimised loudspeaker layouts.

Across all three vehicles, Meridian’s work focused on system architecture, DSP calibration, psychoacoustic tuning and final sound sign-off.

HiPhi X

featured two system configurations, Sonic Line and Sonic Pro, delivering scalable performance through increased speaker counts and enhanced immersion controls.

HiPhi z

was equipped with an advanced Sonic Pro system, engineered as a fully active, multi-channel audio architecture with extensive spatial and height channels.

HiPhi Y

applied Meridian’s DSP expertise to deliver a refined and engaging sound experience optimised for a more compact electric SUV platform, balancing performance, efficiency and usability.

Meridian Technologies

Each HiPhi system integrated multiple Meridian proprietary technologies, tailored to the specific vehicle environment, including:

Meridian Horizon, expanding the soundstage and enabling immersive playback

Meridian Intelli-Q, optimising performance based on cabin acoustics and speaker placement

Meridian Re-Q, maintaining tonal accuracy following vehicle integration

Meridian Perfect Balance, compensating for frequency response variations

Meridian Digital Precision and True Time, ensuring accurate signal handling and timing alignment

Together, these technologies delivered a natural, immersive and emotionally engaging listening experience informed by how humans perceive sound.

 

Integration

Meridian worked closely with HiPhi’s engineering teams to integrate each system into the vehicle architecture. Speaker placement, crossover design, delay alignment and system tuning were optimised to complement interior design while meeting the practical demands of everyday and long-distance electric driving.

The Result

Across the HiPhi X, Z and Y, Meridian-engineered audio systems delivered detailed, immersive sound with consistent performance throughout the cabin. Each system reflected Meridian’s ability to adapt its engineering approach to different vehicle platforms, while maintaining a clear focus on authenticity, clarity and spatial realism.

The HiPhi projects demonstrated Meridian’s depth of experience in next-generation electric vehicles and advanced automotive audio architectures.
